Container gardening is a great way to brighten up a room, or brighten up a window. Bright plant pots or other accessories can really change the atmosphere and distract from the flowers you are trying to bring in. If you enjoy the classic look of hanging pot plants but would struggle for hooks for your ceiling, have a few hooks on your window frame above where you will be putting the pots. It is ideal for container plants that require more light and will give you more privacy.
If you choose containers that are not that heavy, you can brighten them up with bright plant pots that are made of fiberglass or acrylic. These kinds of pots have a plastic appearance and can either stand on their own or hang on a hook. Many also come with drainage systems built in to the lid so you do not have to. Some even come with built-in lights to help illuminate your container gardening. Look for these if you want a little bit of extra light in your container gardening.
If your plants do not like direct sunlight, place them on shelves or on a table in the room where you are planning to put them. Because they do not like direct sunlight, plants placed in a cabinet or a table with lights on will sometimes grow better because they get the sunlight they need. If your plants have been potted in a sunny window, consider placing flowering plants near the windowsill. But remember that if the light goes down during the day, the flowers will not bloom. Place flowering plants in a dark room where the sun does not shine as much or put them in a window that has downward facing lighting.
Be sure to water your plants well in order for them to thrive. You can help your plants to survive by watering them when the soil is dry instead of just keeping them in a deep water tray. You should water every other day but not excessively. This can sometimes cause root rot. Remember to water regularly between potting periods and you will be ready to start container gardening.
When choosing which container to use for your plants, think about the location, height of the container, the depth of the container and whether the container is going to be outdoors or indoors. If you live in an area where there is a lot of winter, make sure your pot will be able to handle a cold climate. It also helps to choose a pot that matches your pot container. Bright colors will go well with most containers. A good color for a container is red; it makes the container appear wider and gives the plant added depth.
Plant containers come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes. Consider choosing a container that allows you to see what you are growing. This way, you will know if you need to replant your plants in the future.
Make sure your container has good drainage. Your plants will still require some sunshine but the container should drain well. The last thing you want is your container overflowing with water. This will lead to mold and mildew and definitely not a good look for your bright new container.
When choosing plants, remember that you want something pretty that you can see. You don’t want something that will hide your beautiful container. Choose tall, bushy plants to show off your bright container. Flowers are usually the best choice for bright plant pots. Smaller containers look nice as well, but they may not have the same appeal.
