There are two types of plants that Hetty’s offers: Perennial herbs or those that grow quickly; and Seasonal or Bi-annuals that grow more slowly. To enhance the beauty of your gardening garden we recommend planting flowering bulbs in the Spring and bulbs in the Summer.
Growing herbs is easy with our easy to use Hetty’s system. The compact containers make it easier to manage than other systems such as hanging baskets and the track system allows you to plant in rows. The Track System is designed specifically for growing Hetty’s herbs in rows. If you have always wanted a garden but just do not have the time, this system will work for you. You can plant herbs in the following areas: Between a fence and shrubs, in a bedding area, in a deck, patio, or on your own patio or deck. The Planting Guide for Hetty’s provides you with tips for all areas of growing.
This year, we are offering two new herbs that are featured in our new fall issue of the Kitchen Garden Magazine: King’s Bark and Burdock. Both of these herbs are native to England and now make available in our Garden Centers. They are both herbaceous perennials and are easy to grow from seed. Their bushy leaves add texture to your gardens as they grow in the garden.
Each herb has distinctive small leaves and large bold pointed flowers that provide interest in spring and summer. Their large leaves provide an abundance of color. The great thing about these plants is that they are hardy, meaning that they can handle dry soil conditions and full sun. Our planting guides give you the information you need to choose the right plants for your garden center or your front yard.
If you decide to go with Burdock or King’s Bark, be aware that they cannot be planted by seed. You must buy them in bulk at your local garden center and then plant them in the holes provided. Do not plant more than one at a time because they will compete with each other for nutrients. Planting the Burdock or King’s Bark in containers also works; however, be sure to water well when you do so. You should plan to cover the soil with a plastic covering until the seeds germinate and begin to grow.
Hexy Hetys Herbs provides excellent information about all three of these perennial herbs and how to care for them. The good thing about Hexy He’s Herbs is that they are not subject to herbicide spraying. They are also great as companion plants for other plants in your garden. They are easy to grow and a beautiful addition to your landscaping. As they grow older, they turn gray with golden undertones.
In early spring, open the clippings back up and tie them into bunches with wire or string. You can plant the herbs in small separate groups or you can plant them together. Be sure to place them in an area where they get plenty of sunlight but not direct sunlight. You have to remember that it is a slow growing herb so it will take quite a while before you harvest any of your growing herbs.
